Upwardly Global San Francisco

Upwardly Global opened its first office in San Francisco in 2003. We work with skilled immigrants from across the bay area. Our main office is based in San Francisco’s financial district and we also have a satellite office in San Jose to provide local services to Silicon Valley jobseekers.

Local Leadership Council

The Leadership Council is a group of dedicated volunteers who support Upwardly Global’s work by fundraising, building awareness, recruiting volunteers and strengthening employer partnerships. Kimberly Jew, Co-Chair
Kimberly Jew is an Assistant Vice President and Senior FX Analyst for Wells Fargo Foreign Exchange Online. Her primary responsibility is sales and portfolio management support for the corporate and middle market sectors. Previously, Kimberly completed Wells Fargo’s Leadership Pipeline Program and then worked as a marketing consultant in its International Group. She also serves as the Co-Chair of the Diversity Committee’s recruitment and outreach initiatives. Kimberly began volunteering with Upwardly Global in 2008 and is a Leadership Council Co-Chair. She holds a BS in Business Administration from the University of Southern California.

Laura LaBine, Co-Chair
Laura LaBine is a Senior Account Executive with Vaco where she specializes in the job placement of technology professionals. Laura’s primary responsibility is new business development with financial, technology, and web companies. Over the past 18 years, Laura has served as an employee and volunteer with numerous non-profit organizations and has participated in many fundraising activities on a local and national level. She has served as a mentor and interviewer with Upwardly Global for the past year and is a current Co-Chair on the Leadership Council. Laura holds a BA in Music Education and Psychology from Moorhead State University.

Camila Franco
Camila Franco is a contracting Business Analyst with Wells Fargo’s Wholesale group. Her responsibilities include gathering requirements from users, modeling existing and new processes, and collaborating with Product Management to improve processes. Prior to Wells Fargo, she worked in the manufacturing and technology industries. Camila began her career as a Software Developer and moved to the U.S. from Brazil in 2005. Camila has volunteered with Upwardly Global since 2010. She holds a BS in Computer Science from Pontificia Universidade Catolica de Sao Paulo and is currently pursuing an MS in Information Technology Management at the Golden Gate University of San Francisco.

Natasha Odama
Natasha Odama is  is an Assistant Director of Enrollment and Recruitment at the University of San Francisco's Cupertino campus.  She has a background in Human Resources, with a focus on HR operations and benefits administration.  Natasha received her B.A. in Psychology from San Francisco State University and is currently enrolled in the M.A. in Organization and Leadership at USF.  She has been an Upwardly Global volunteer since 2005 and has mentored multiple job seekers. She joined the leadership council in 2011.

Jose Roy Z. Gregorio
Jose Roy Z. Gregorio is a Production Technician at Tissue Bank International. Originally from the Philippines, he earned his medical degree and training in general surgery at University of Santo Tomas in Manila. Jose is an Upwardly Global alumnus and has volunteered with the organization since 2009 as a mentor and development coordinator for our 2010 annual event.

Angus Hsu
Angus Hsu began his career with Wells Fargo as an Internal Auditor and now serves as a Financial Analyst. During college, Angus participated in Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) as well as pretrial services at the Superior Court of California- Alameda County. Angus joined Upwardly Global in 2008 as a volunteer and mentor. He holds a BS in Economics from the University of California, Berkeley.

Emmanuel Imah
Emmanuel Imah is a non-profit and business professional. He has twelve years of government experience and a track record of achieving social change and economic advancement for low-income urban and rural communities. He has been a volunteer with Upwardly Global since 2009. Originally from Nigeria, Emmanuel holds an MBA in Marketing from the University of Nigeria.

Sarah Caravalho Khan
Sarah Caravalho Khan serves as the Director of Human Resources at the West Valley-Mission Community College District where she oversees recruiting, benefits, organizational development, and training for 1,500 staff and faculty. Prior to the District, she held several positions in recruitment and human resources at San José State University and Citigroup. She has been an active volunteer with Upwardly Global since 2001. Sarah holds an MA in Organization and Leadership from the University of San Francisco, a BA in English from the California Polytechnic University, San Luis Obispo, and a Master Practitioner’s Credential from the Center for Applied Psychological Type.

Don Miller
Don Miller is the Operations Manager of McKesson’s U.S. Pharmaceutical division. He has more than 20 years of experience in healthcare and financial services at corporations such as, GE Capital, Wells Fargo, Bank of the West, and GATX. Don began volunteering with Upwardly Global in 2009 and has mentored multiple jobseekers. He holds a BA from San Francisco State University.

David Ou
David Ou works on the Corporate Strategy and Development team at Electronic Arts. He was previously an Investment Banking Analyst at Bank of America Merrill Lynch as well as Bear, Stearns & Co. Raised in an immigrant family, David’s enthusiasm for Upwardly Global stemmed from observing his parents’ experience as they sought to attain quality employment opportunities in the U.S. David has worked with Upwardly Global as a volunteer since 2010. David holds a BS in Accounting and Finance from the University of Southern California.

Aaron Racine
Aaron Racine is a Site Reliability Engineer at Google, where he focuses on improving and scaling production systems and services. He has more than 10 years of experience in systems engineering, network engineering, and information security at organizations such as Linden Lab, AT&T Wireless, and the University of Washington. Aaron has been an Upwardly Global volunteer since 2010.

Silpa Sigireddy
Silpa Sigireddy is a Process Engineer and Program Manager at Dell Inc. She works in online procurement with the large enterprise and public sectors and previously held a position at Dell Global Operations in manufacturing, logistics, and supply chain planning. Silpa discovered Upwardly Global in 2010 and looks forward to tapping into her corporate experience as well as personal journey as an immigrant to the U.S. Silpa holds an ME from the University of Texas, Austin and a BME from the Indian Institute of Technology, Chennai.

Carolyn Ujcic
Carolyn Ujcic is a Program Manager at Google Inc. where she specializes in change management and helps Google Apps users embrace cloud computing. Prior to joining Google, Carolyn worked as a consultant at Accenture. In this position, she aided organizations in strategic change initiatives, which included the launch of a leadership development program in Tanzania. She began volunteering with Upwardly Global in 2010. Carolyn holds a BS in Business Administration from Ohio State University.

Dove Vallender
Dove Vallender is an Assistant Vice President and Online Specialist for Wells Fargo’s Foreign Exchange eCommerce division. She now manages the FX online product’s corporate and middle market sectors in the Northwest Texas Intermountain region. She began her career with Wells Fargo in 1999. Dove previously served on the Mental Health Association of San Francisco’s Development Committee and began volunteering with Upwardly Global in 2010. She holds a BA in Political Science from the University of California, Santa Barbara.
