Alison Kraus , Jobseeker Services Program Coordinator (New York)

Alison, a native New Yorker, comes to Upwardly Global with significant international, social service and immigrant community experience in the non profit and profit sectors.  She is fascinated with how the best of both the profit and non profit sectors can be combined to effectively provide socially just services. Her life and work has brought her to an inner city community in Boston, a monastery on an Indian reservation in North Dakota, a shelter in Ciudad Juarez Mexico, social service agencies in New York City, and a travel agency in Lima, Peru. She has worked as a General Manager, Volunteer, Caseworker/Advocate, Social Work Intern and Counselor. Alison received a Master’s degree in Social Work from Columbia University where she specialized in International Social Work and Services to Immigrants and Refugees with a focus on Policy. Her Bachelor’s degree is in the History and Literature of Latin America, Cum Laude from Harvard University. She is fluent in Spanish and proficient in Portuguese.
