Upwardly Global

Upwardly Global Alumni Give Back

Upwardly Global’s model is based on the idea that, as we help immigrant professionals reestablish their careers, they will be open the door wider for newer immigrants. Our alumni are involved in this effort in many ways, including mentoring new jobseekers, becoming donors, and connecting us to people and opportunities in their new companies. This month, we have seen several examples of Upwardly Global alumni giving back.

  • Paola Mendoza, Product Manager for Membership Services at California State Automobile Association and former Upwardly Global Jobseeker hired Jariya Casey, a marketing professional from Thailand to fill the Marketing Program Manager position in her department

  • Alcides Hernandes, Upwardly Global Alum from El Salvador has been working as an Energy Analyst for the City of Roseville since 2004. Recently, Alcides shared that he has been creating a more diverse environment by sharing some of his own country’s traditions with his co-workers as he continues to learn the American workplace culture.

  • A group of alumni, including Polina Istomina (Ukraine), Ines Gonzalez-Lehman (Peru), Rolando Del Rosario (Philippines), Mussie Solomon (Eritrea/Ethiopia), and Gergana Dukes (Bulgaria) are helping Upwardly Global better reach out to new immigrant professionals. They used their experience as marketing, management and finance professionals to update the look and feel of Upwardly Global’s jobseeker marketing collateral and discussed new strategies for dissemination of the materials.

Thanks to all our Alumni and congratulations to them on their continuing successes!
