Upwardly Global jobseekers come from over 90 countries and from all walks of life. While we often highlight jobseekers with more traditional business backgrounds such as finance, marketing, or law, we also see individuals with professions as diverse and fascinating as our jobseekers themselves.

Abdulrahman is a botany professor from Yemen. He came to Upwardly Global with a PhD in Biological Sciences and 31 years of University-level teaching experience. Academia is one of the most difficult fields for foreign-born professionals to break into in the U.S., but Abdulrahman would not take no for an answer. Through already established connections at the University of Florida, he found a position as a lecturer/visiting professor in the Biology department. He has relocated to Florida and found a path that will use his extensive skills and experience.

Erika is a journalist and on-air TV personality from Colombia. She was an anchor on City TV Colombia and launched a daily entertainment segment for a local television show. She was also the Arts Editor for a monthly art and culture publication in Colombia. Coming to the U.S. did not stop Erika from pursuing her passion. In addition to a full-time job search, she founded E-Zine, a biligual online internet magazine focused on Latin alternative and independant rock. Her hard work paid off. Erika is now an Internet News Producer for Terra Networks, a global Internet media company operating some of the most popular websites in the United States, Latin America and Spain. 

Albert is a Music Studio Engineer from China with 30 years experience. Albert produced and composed music for the largest record company in China, was first chair violinist for Canton Symphony Orchestra, and owned his own record label! While Albert is currently still looking for a full-time position, he has connected to some incredible people and created a great deal of opportunity to become a part of the New York music community. Recently, Albert got together with Upwardly Global Mentor, Dorothy Lambiris, to write the music and lyrics to the first ever Upwardly Global jingle! Read the lyrics in the left panel.
