Keep Corporate Diversity Programs Fresh

Corporate Diversity programs are gaining increasing attention and relevance as the world grows smaller and business becomes more global. However, without the support of employees at all levels, these programs can fall flat. According to Michael O'Brien's recent article, "Fatigued by Diversity Initiatives" (Michael O'Brien, Human Resources Executive magazine, www.hreonline.com), without tangible results, "Management eventually becomes fatigued by anything with the word diversity in it.”

According to the article, diversity fatigue occurs in companies that do not see a tangible outcome after several years of engaging in a diversity and inclusion efforts. The article notes that nearly 30% of HR executives pointed to a lack of "tools... to reinforce the training" of diversity programs.

Upwardly Global offers a unique suggestion for addressing the issue of Diversity Program "Fatigue" by engaging employees in coaching and mentoring activities with their immigrant professional peers.
