High-Skilled Talent: the Future of Michigan
The state of Michigan recognizes skilled immigrants as vital to the economic health of the state today and in the future. Governor Rick Snyder leads the nation’s governors in his support for welcoming immigrants, including high-skilled immigrants and immigrant entrepreneurs.
Michigan Professional Licensing Guides
These licensing guides provide information for eleven in-demand professions. Each year thousands of immigrants coming to the U.S. are already trained in these professions, but must also invest time and resources to secure state-level licenses in order to resume practicing their profession. The Professional Licensing Guides explain what foreign-trained immigrants need to know before applying for a professional license in Michigan. The intention is to help skilled immigrants prepare efficiently to license in accordance with the high professional standards of our state.
The Michigan Professional Licensing Guides were created with the active support of the office of Governor Rick Snyder, the Michigan Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs (LARA), Global Michigan and Global Detroit. Upwardly Global initiatives in Michigan are generously funded by the New Economy Initiative for Southeast Michigan, a unique philanthropic initiative aimed at helping to restore southeast Michigan to a position of leadership in the new global economy.
