Advisors
Advisors are American professionals who are willing to give an informational interview to an immigrant or refugee professional who is new to the USA. We match advisors with a refugee or immigrant who has the same or related professional background.

Time commitment: 4-8 hours/year.

Mentors
Mentors are advisors who have a little more time to give and want to get more involved. Mentors work one-on-one with a refugee or immigrant to help him/her rebuild his/her career in the US. Mentors may introduce the newcomer to other contacts within the field or industry, invite him/her to networking groups or industry association meetings, and work with him/her on job search and interview skills. For newcomers who are still working on English skills, mentors may do some tutoring on industry lingo, specific jargon and other terminology used in the career field.

Time commitment: 1-2 hours/week during the mentoring period.

Trainers
Trainers conduct/co-conduct workshops for our jobseekers on the topics of job search strategies, interviewing, networking skills, and American culture. Upwardly Global provides a formal curriculum with trainer's notes and handouts. Workshops are generally held on a weekday evening. To become a trainer, a volunter must attend a 3-hour Trainer-the-Trainer session (generally held on a Saturday morning) and observe one workshop.

The commitment is to conduct at least 2 workshops in a year.
