Upwardly Global Celebrates 9,000 Immigrant and Refugee Job Placements

Upwardly Global, the premier national nonprofit uplifting immigrant and refugee inclusion to the U.S. workforce, has now helped place over 9,000 job seekers into skill-aligned roles with starting salaries of $67,000 on average. For over 20 years, Upwardly Global’s peer-to-peer job training program has recognized and uplifted the pool of immigrant and refugee talent too often rendered invisible by the American labor market.

This important milestone comes just one year after international crises in Afghanistan, Ukraine, and elsewhere brought an influx of newcomers to American shores in search of new lives and careers. Over the last year, Upwardly Global has worked hand-in-hand with Afghan refugees like Sohaila — a female surgeon who relocated to the U.S. after the fall of Kabul in August of 2021 — to land job placements in their fields here in the U.S. These personalized connections have now brought over 9,000 of Upwardly Global’s job seekers into successful professional jobs — not only contributing millions to the U.S. economy each year, but helping immigrants and refugees prosper.
