Evacuate Our Allies (EOA) today released a report that analyzes the humanitarian record of the U.S. military’s withdrawal from Afghanistan and provides recommendations to the administration, Congress, and decision-makers on how to protect at-risk Afghans moving forward.

The report and its recommendations were discussed by a panel of experts and stakeholders convened online by EOA, including Upwardly Global, Human Rights First, Veterans for American Ideals (a project of Human Rights First), the Lutheran Immigration and Refugee Service, the Afghan-American Foundation, the Afghan American Community Organization, the American Immigration Lawyers Association Afghan Response Task Force, Immigrant ARC, Remote Healthcare Operations at Afghan Medical Professionals Association of America.

“Integrating our Afghan allies will require an American commitment at the national and community level; it will require thoughtful planning and passion,” said Rebecca Fishman, Afghan Response Coordinator for Upwardly Global. “The skills and experience of this community are woefully needed in the U.S. labor market as employers continue to struggle to fill positions in key industries. We can and should be doing more to help our allies rebuild their lives in the United States.”
