About Jessica Hennessey

Jessica Hennessey is a Senior Immigration Policy Specialist with Amazon, where she advocates for policy changes to support Amazon’s immigrant and refugee employees. She is currently helping to lead an effort to expand Amazon’s hiring of, and support for, refugees and other humanitarian based immigrants. Jessica lives in Seattle and is excited to be a part of Upwardly Global’s expansion in the Pacific Northwest.

While in law school, Jessica began her career in the legal department of a refugee resettlement agency, and she has always had a passion for helping immigrants and refugees. Prior to joining Amazon, Jessica spent over 15 years as an immigration attorney with the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, where she spent several years with the Refugee and Asylum Law Division, supporting the U.S. Refugee Admissions program, which included interviewing refugees around the world. While with the government, she also served as immigration counsel to the U.S. Senate’s Judiciary Committee.

In her free time, Jessica loves to take ferry boat rides with her son and husband, ride her bike, discover new art, and cook globally inspired food. Jessica earned her J.D. from the University at Buffalo School of Law, and her B.A. from Hope College.
