Dear <<First Name>>,

A deep dive into labor market data shows that there is an uptick in hiring and long term job opportunity focused in five key areas: healthcare, IT, engineering, business/logistics, and finance. And the best news is that there are diverse, experienced and highly motivated people—including many immigrants and refugees—eager and able to take these jobs.

We need your help to connect job seekers with opportunity at this tough time. Please encourage friends—especially those connected with immigrant communities—to check out UpGlo's free and proven career services. Below is information on eligibility that you can share out on social media or with friends.

Over the last six months, UpGlo has been building out re-skilling and certification opportunities with Google, Microsoft, Splunk, Coursera, Udemy, and others, and new partnerships with Berkeley Institue for Data Science, SUNY Stony Brook, and dozens of leading companies eager to hire. The Upwardly Global program has helped over 7,500 immigrant and refugee professionals get back into their careers. Last year, even in the midst of COVID-19, our job seekers found positions that paid an average of $60,000—a thriving wage, and added some $358 million to the economy.

Here's more recent news from our job seekers, staff and leadership:

  • In March, we celebrated the success of 12 outstanding program participants, including Thin and Sussy, who matched for residency programs at hospitals across the country.

  • Some 23% of our job seekers identify as Asian, so the uptick in anti-Asian hate crimes and the violence in Georgia and beyond has been horrifying and personal for many of us. We've reached out to our community with comfort and solidarity, and we've underscored a diametrically opposed vision that we fight for every day: our diversity and differences are our greatest assets and a benefit to all of us.

  • UpGlo launched an updated Volunteer section on our website with exciting and new volunteer opportunities. Last year, over 1,600 volunteers shared their talent and privilege with our job seekers, and helped them with interview skills, career pathways and crucial networking and introductions.

  • We reached a milestone of investing over $1 million in skilling & training programs to help nearly 750 job seekers take high-demand courses and gain credentials that connect them with jobs.

  • We were excited to release an in-depth policy “roadmap” for the Biden-Harris administration, featuring 15 recommendations to advance the full inclusion of immigrant and refugee professionals in the U.S. workforce. This is the document of it's kind focused on exactly which policies would move the bar on the inclusion of immigrant and refugee professonals into our workforce.

  • Finally, we produced our first-ever podcast with highlights from our inaugural Ambassadors (major donor) conversation about building a more inclusive economy in technology -- with leaders from Microsoft, Google, Accenture, Lumina and UpGlo.

This work is only possible with your continued support. Thank you for taking meaningful steps with us to advance a vision of a country where everyone—including immigrants and refugees—can fully contribute and thrive.
