Upwardly Global’s President and CEO Discusses AI for Social Impact in Techonomy 24

Upwardly Global’s President and CEO, Jina Krause-Vilmar, joined Google.org’s Head of AI for Social Good, Alexander Diaz, to discuss AI’s potential for social impact at Techonomy 24 session “AI for Social Good: How Technology is Empowering Marginalized Communities.”

Jina highlighted how Upwardly Global uses AI to help immigrant and refugee professionals reenter overcome systemic barriers in the U.S. job market, emphasizing the need for equity-focused AI solutions that can accurately assess diverse backgrounds. Alexander Diaz shared Google.org’s approach to social impact through AI partnerships, stressing the importance of choosing the right technological solutions that fit each specific problem.

Both leaders underscored the importance of collaboration between funders, nonprofits, and tech companies to effectively scale AI initiatives and achieve global development goals while preparing the workforce for technological advancement.
