Ruchi came to the U.S. in 2010 on a dependent visa that did not include a work permit. This was heartbreaking for Ruchi because it meant that she was unable to continue the promising finance career she had built in India, which included positions at Accenture and Angel Broking Limited, one of India’s most respected wealth management firms.

Later, when she finally received the legal authorization to work, she found there were still barriers standing in her way. Ruchi learned about UpGlo from a neighbor and enrolled in our Women’s Services Program. She completed her core training online in just five days, and was matched with her UpGlo career advisor. Her advisor, Altin, recalls that Ruchi, “had a great attitude and a great resume, but the format did not highlight her qualities, causing her resume to get lost in the crowd.”

Over the next three months, they worked together on expanding her network, applying, and preparing for interviews so that Ruchi was confident when she was invited to interview at a leading U.S. bank. The company was so impressed with Ruchi that she was asked to complete all rounds of interviews in one day and received an offer the following day. Ruchi is thriving in her new role and is now preparing for her next step, advancing towards Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) and working her way back into investment banking.
