Nikki Cicerani has served Upwardly Global since 2007: First as founding Managing Director of the organization’s New York office, and then as President and & CEO from 2009 to 2018. Nikki now sits on Upwardly Global’s Board of Directors.
Under Nikki’s leadership, Upwardly Global has grown from a local program to a national organization leading work in breaking down barriers for skilled immigrant and refugee professionals. Nikki championed the expansion of UpGlo’s services to seven major metropolitan areas across the United States and launched the organization’s digital program platform. She positioned Upwardly Global to lead a network of national and community partnerships that collaboratively support immigrant and refugee job seekers and raise awareness about their many contributions to the United States workforce and economy.
Nikki was a founding committee member of IMPRINT, a coalition of organizations that promote and implement best practices in the integration of immigrant professionals. She advised the White House Domestic Policy Council on the economic integration of foreign-trained professionals. She is a sought-after expert and public speaker, having served as a panelist at numerous national and international forums on migration and economic development.
Prior to joining Upwardly Global, Nikki worked in both the non-profit and for-profit sectors. She holds an MBA from Columbia Business School, where she was president of Columbia Women in Business, and a bachelor’s degree in Policy Analysis from Cornell University. She lives in Millburn, New Jersey with her husband and two children.
