Susan Thornton, PsyD, MBA is a partner in the Seattle office. Her clients range from large multinational Fortune 100 companies to entrepreneurial startups and span various industries including technology, pharmaceutical, retail, finance, manufacturing, insurance, and law. With such a diverse client portfolio, she has helped executives and leadership teams leverage talent to accomplish a wide range of strategic objectives.
Specific examples of her work include 1) helping a large financial institution maintain growth and profitability through a CEO transition by developing and managing a CEO succession process, 2) helping a manufacturing company achieve aggressive growth targets with a new leadership team by coaching individual leaders to help them scale to larger roles and facilitating team sessions to improve decision making and 3) managing a high-potential program to develop future leaders through coaching and cohort learning experiences. Susan is known for her emphasis on business objectives, insight into complex dynamics at the individual, group, and organizational level, and her direct yet supportive style.
Prior to joining RHR, Susan spent five years at Leadership Development Worldwide, another leadership consulting firm based out of the Boston area where she advised CEOs of several companies, developed and facilitated trainings on talent acquisition and development, and conducted hundreds of assessments for selection and development.
Susan simultaneously earned her PsyD in clinical psychology and MBA from Widener University in Pennsylvania with an additional concentration in school psychology. Her dissertation explored best practices for coaching women leaders.
