Tony Goncalves

former Chief Revenue Officer

WarnerMedia

Tony Goncalves is former Executive Vice President and Chief Revenue Officer at WarnerMedia.

“As a proud, first-generation Portuguese immigrant and business leader, it’s important to me and my family that everyone has the opportunity to rise to the level of their talents and contribute to a country that gives them the freedom to make a better life. Upwardly Global’s mission is close to my heart and I look forward to furthering my involvement,” said Tony.

With parents who immigrated from Portugal when he was just four years old, Tony grew up understanding what it meant to start from scratch in a new country and sacrifice for your children’s future. He is committed to opening more opportunities for immigrants and refugees today and works to ensure that we are a welcoming country, practicing kindness in his own life and work.

In 2016, Upwardly Global honored Tony for his principled leadership. He has co-chaired our Gala in subsequent years, speaking eloquently and bravely during years when perceptions of immigrants and refugees were badly harmed and even weaponized. Tony will once again co-chair this year’s Gala and has partnered with MediaLink CEO Michael Kassan.

In his role at WarnerMedia, Tony oversaw U.S. advertising sales, networks and HBO Max distribution, home entertainment and content licensing. He was also responsible for Otter Media, a leader in fan-centric, digital-first entertainment with a portfolio of digital media brands including Rooster Teeth and Gunpowder & Sky. Goncalves was named to this position in August, 2020.

Prieviously, Tony was serving in a dual role at WarnerMedia as CEO of Otter Media and overseeing the development of HBO Max. Before his role at WarnerMedia, Goncalves served as head of Strategy and Business Development for AT&T, leading the company’s entry into OTT with DIRECTV NOW and overseeing the Otter Media relationship with The Chernin Group.

Tony held a number of roles at DIRECTV before joining AT&T. He founded and led the company’s digital products division, reporting to CEO Mike White, and spearheaded the shift to mobile video and innovation outside the traditional content distribution space, including the launch of the NFL Sunday Ticket OTT product.

Tony also serves on the Advisory Board of his alma mater, the Iona College Hagan School of Business.
