New York, NY — On September 24, 2025, Upwardly Global brought together supporters, partners, and alumni at Tribeca 360° to celebrate 25 years of building brighter futures for immigrants and refugees across the U.S.

Since 2000, Upwardly Global has placed more than 11,500 immigrants into thriving-wage careers, supporting their long-term economic mobility and strengthening the U.S. workforce.

The evening was a powerful reflection of Upwardly Global’s mission and the community that makes it possible. Upwardly Global was honored to recognize two visionary leaders whose work uplifts immigrant voices in media:

  • Mariana van Zeller, award-winning journalist and host of Trafficked, reminded the audience: In a way, Upwardly Global is the solution to the problems I’ve spent my entire career uncovering. It reveals the hidden brilliance, the talent, and humanity that is too often overlooked in this country. It doesn’t just help people find jobs. It helps them reclaim their dignity, their voice, and their future.”
  • Marco Calvani, acclaimed filmmaker and storyteller, shared: Upwardly Global sees people. You don’t just see immigrants or refugees. You see talent. You see engineers, doctors, teachers, and healers who are also mothers, fathers, sons, and daughters. And you remind them, and remind this country, that they belong.

The evening was chaired by Tony Goncalves, Founder and CEO of The Evrose Group, who set the tone for a night full of hope and momentum.

Guests were moved by stories from Upwardly Global alumni, energized by a live performance from multidisciplinary artist Lollise, and inspired by special appearances from Jane Leu, Upwardly Global’s founder, and Nikki Cicerani, former President and CEO.

For those unable to attend, there is still time to support this milestone and contribute to Upwardly Global’s mission of helping immigrants and refugees rebuild their careers and thrive in the U.S. workforce.

Upwardly Global extends its gratitude to the community that made the evening unforgettable — here’s to the next 25 years of impact.
