Upwardly Global is thrilled to announce a major milestone in our efforts to support Afghan newcomers. Through the direct service team’s exceptional work, Upwardly Global has successfully placed 500 Afghan professionals into family-supporting careers with an average salary of $59,131.

Since the U.S. withdrawal from Afghanistan in 2021, Upwardly Global’s Employment Services Advisors have provided Afghan newcomers with personalized coaching and job-readiness training tailored specifically to Afghans’ professional and cultural needs.

Upwardly Global is also continuing to promote the Afghan Adjustment Act, which would provide a legal pathway to citizenship for Afghan newcomers. According to our recent report, Afghan newcomers could contribute over $1.7 billion in annual earnings. Our Afghan response efforts and storytelling campaign have received national recognition, garnering honorable mentions from Fast Company’s World Changing Ideas Awards and Ragan’s Crisis Communications Awards.

To date, these efforts have supported hundreds of Afghan program alumni into successful careers, enabling them to contribute and thrive in their new communities.
