UpGlo brings Chicago’s community together to explore AI’s impact on the workforce, celebrate immigrant professionals’ contributions to the economy, and help jobseekers build their networking skills.

The future of work is changing, and no one should have to navigate it alone. The Promise Renewed Tour recently arrived in Chicago, where Upwardly Global brought together jobseekers, staff, partners, and community leaders to exchange ideas, share career advice, and strengthen connections.

As Gregory Haile, Upwardly Global CEO, said, “Over the last five years, 88% of all workforce growth has been immigrant workforce growth. By 2052, it will be 100%. And so we, this country, have this unique gift, this idea that people come from all over the world and flourish here, and because they flourish here, this country flourishes.”

On Wednesday, October 7, we hosted a panel conversation on AI, workforce transformation, and the important role immigrant professionals play in growing our economy. On Thursday, we brought immigrant professionals looking to restart their careers face to face with a crew of professional mentors for networking practice and lively discussion. Many thanks to:

  • Ron Guerrier, four-time Fortune 500 CIO and workforce transformation expert.
  • Adriana Cardona-Maguidad, panel moderator and immigration reporter at WEBZ.
  • Accenture, which generously offered some of their staff to volunteer at the jobseeker event to help immigrant professionals better understand and navigate the US workforce. We couldn’t ask for a better partner.

The events centered on the opportunities and challenges facing internationally trained professionals as artificial intelligence reshapes the US job market. Through conversations and peer connections, we explored how to adapt to a changing workforce while making the most of jobseekers’ skills, experience, and professional networks.

That spirit of connection is at the heart of the Promise Renewed Tour. By bringing jobseekers, alumni, employers, and community partners together, UpGlo is creating space for people to learn from one another and help shape a more robust and effective workforce.
