For 19 of our jobseekers, this Match Day marked a moment when years of sacrifice turned into something real — a new beginning that signals a return to what they love.

International medical graduates’ (IMGs) road to practicing medicine in the United States is often long and unforgiving. Licensing exams. Credential evaluations. Visa paperwork. Interviews in a second or third language. And in between all of it, survival jobs that have nothing to do with the years of medical training they brought with them.

That’s why we’re so proud of each and every jobseeker who stayed the course and held onto the vision of serving patients again. Thanks to their hard work, our communities will now be able to benefit from their experience, talent, and care.

Here’s what Sasha, a jobseeker originally from Ukraine, had to say:

Sasha, a Ukrainian jobseeker, holding a sign saying "I matched in internal medicine at AdventHealth Tampa"

“I recently matched into an internal medicine residency at my top-choice program — AdventHealth Tampa. I can’t thank enough every single person I met along my at-times bumpy journey who helped make this dream come true.

“A special thank you to my mentor, Kyrie, and the Upwardly Global organization for the tremendous support you have given not only to me, but to hundreds of professionals transitioning to the U.S. I truly can’t imagine successfully finishing such an ultramarathon without the mentorship, motivation, financial support, interview preparation, and strategic guidance from Upwardly Global. I wish every international medical graduate could have access to this kind of support and community — it truly changes lives.”

For every success story, there are many more talented, work-authorized professionals still working toward this goal. So many immigrants and refugees come to the U.S. ready to contribute, but without the support they need to get there. This is why Upwardly Global exists.

Will you consider making a gift today to help more internationally trained professionals achieve their Match Day moment?

Thank you for being part of this community, for believing in the potential of our jobseekers, and for helping turn that potential into real opportunity.
