We know that today, as our country contends with the triple threat of a global health crisis, a long-term economic downturn, and an awakening to systemic racial injustice, we need to move this work more urgently than ever before. All business enterprises — regardless of their size or sector — have a duty to devise responsible strategies for diversity, equity, and inclusion that include vulnerable communities such as immigrants and refugees.

Over the past 21 years, Upwardly Global has engaged Corporate America — from the strategic C-Suite to operational levels — to learn and take action around equity and inclusion and to diversify their workforces.

We are the first and longest-serving national nonprofit dedicated to lifting immigrant and refugee professionals out of underemployment and into thriving-wage jobs that align with their skills and education. We have served over 18,000 job seekers through our coaching, networking, and skill-building programs and have placed more than 7,500 back into career-track positions.

Our Employer Engagement Approach

Upwardly Global’s 20+ years of experience working with immigrant and refugee professionals has informed the development of our unique hands-on expertise that has positioned us as leaders in the recruitment, retention, and success of foreign-born, highly skilled talent.

We know that to truly move the mark, this work requires a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion from the C-Suite level of corporate leadership through talent acquisition teams and even general staff. It is for this reason that we are purposeful about employer engagement — investing in corporate partners who are serious about supporting vulnerable communities and committed to uplifting immigrants and refugees.

Employer engagement for a diverse and inclusive future

We view partnerships over the long term — not only to recruit this talent, but to retain after one year, three years, and beyond. We aim to ensure mutual success for our job seekers and corporate partners in order to create lasting change, transform the lives of our job seekers, and build an inclusive corporate culture.
