Partnership extends career services to newly arrived Latino communities in three major U.S. cities
NEW YORK — Upwardly Global, the leading organization dedicated to breaking employment barriers for work-authorized immigrants, refugees, and asylees, and its workforce partner, Hispanic Federation (HF), the nation’s premier Latino nonprofit membership organization, launched a Commitment to Action announced at the Clinton Global Initiative (CGI) 2024 Annual Meeting. Through this joint initiative, Upwardly Global and Hispanic Federation are partnering to transform the financial security of newly arrived Latino workers.
“Being recognized by CGI highlights the urgent need for inclusive workforce solutions at scale,” says Jina Krause-Vilmar, President and CEO of Upwardly Global. “This partnership with Hispanic Federation is a vital step in rebuilding the resilience of local communities and fostering shared prosperity across the country.”
The partnership is designed to extend career services to 1,000 immigrant job seekers across the U.S., beginning with Los Angeles, Chicago, and Orlando. The initiative advances the economic contributions of newly arrived Latino immigrants and refugees by equipping them with digital fluency, reskilling and upskilling, and resources for professional career navigation, aligning with CGI’s focus on solutions that drive meaningful change for underserved populations.
“Latinos serve as an economic engine across the United States in both rural communities and cities. Through our partnership with Upwardly Global, we are invigorating that economic engine by working towards equitable access for resources to fully participate in the U.S. workforce and providing Latino immigrants with culturally and linguistically relevant trainings on skill development,” said Frankie Miranda, President and CEO of Hispanic Federation. “We are grateful to the Clinton Global Initiative for recognizing the profound impact that this partnership can have on strengthening the workforce in the U.S.”
The Upwardly Global-HF partnership offers a range of workforce solutions, including access to Upwardly Global’s AI-powered resume builder and talent-matching technology, as well as a digital skilling program that equips Latino immigrants with the essential skills for restarting their careers in the U.S. Hispanic Federation career coaches are also receiving specialized training to help job seekers navigate new technologies and employment trends, ensuring participants are equipped for success in the digital economy.
By 2025, Upwardly Global’s partnership model aims to reach 25,000 job seekers by partnering with refugee resettlement agencies, workforce development organizations, and community colleges nationwide to drive economic inclusion.
The partnership is actively serving communities through collaborations with:
-
- New Economics for Women in Los Angeles, California.
- Hispanic Federation in Orlando, Florida.
- Instituto del Progreso Latino in Chicago, Illinois.
