Upwardly Global Celebrates 25 Years of Impact at “Brighter Futures Together” Gala in New York City

New York, NY — Upwardly Global will host its Brighter Futures Together Gala on Wednesday, September 24, 2025, at Tribeca 360° in New York City. This milestone event marks the organization’s 25th anniversary, celebrating a quarter-century of empowering immigrants and refugees to rebuild their careers and contribute to the U.S. workforce.

The evening will honor two visionary leaders whose work exemplifies the values of Upwardly Global:

  • Mariana van Zeller, award-winning investigative journalist and host of National Geographic’s Trafficked, for her fearless storytelling that brings global issues to light.
  • Marco Calvani, internationally acclaimed writer, director, and filmmaker, for his artistic contributions that elevate underrepresented voices and foster cross-cultural understanding.

The gala will be chaired by Tony Goncalves, Founder and CEO of The Evrose Group, whose leadership and commitment to inclusive innovation reflect Upwardly Global’s mission.

Guests will enjoy an inspiring program featuring stories of resilience and success from Upwardly Global alumni and a live performance by multidisciplinary artist Lollise. It will also feature special guests Jane Leu, Founder of Upwardly Global, and Nikki Cicerani, former President and CEO.

The evening will include a paddle raise to support Upwardly Global’s mission. All proceeds will help create opportunities for thousands of immigrants and refugees rebuilding their lives in the U.S.
