Avigail Ziv Joins Upwardly Global As Vice President of Programs

Upwardly Global is delighted to announce that Avigail Ziv has joined the organization as Vice President of Programs. In this key leadership role, Avigail will oversee Upwardly Global’s expansive programs team, which encompasses direct service, employer engagement, product services, and special projects.

With 15 years of experience leading refugee resettlement and programming to support immigrants and refugee communities, Avigail brings a wealth of expertise and a deep commitment to Upwardly Global’s mission, making her an invaluable addition to the Executive Leadership Team.

Avigail joins Upwardly Global after serving as the Executive Director for the International Rescue Committee (IRC) in New York and New Jersey for nearly a decade. During her tenure, she successfully managed a team of over 175 staff members and spearheaded significant revenue and programming growth. Avigail established crucial strategic partnerships with government agencies, community-based organizations, and corporations, strengthening support for diverse newcomer populations in the region while prioritizing  diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives.

Prior to her role as Executive Director, Avigail held other positions within the IRC, serving as a Deputy Director for the Ethiopia country office, and a Program Officer in New York. Her previous experience includes programs and development management roles at the South Asia Earthquake Relief Fund, FHI 360, the U.N. Global Compact, Talking About Reproductive and Sexual Health Issues (TARSHI) in India, and NARAL Pro-Choice New York.

With her diverse background in nonprofit management and strategic leadership, Avigail will play a pivotal role in supporting Upwardly Global’s vision for an equitable and welcoming country where immigrants and refugees can thrive. Avigail holds a Master of Public Administration and a Master of Public Health from Columbia University, as well as a Bachelor of Arts from Barnard University.
